Living in the SoBro Neighborhood

Sobro is actually Southern Broadway and it is one of the eight neighborhoods in Nashville. It is bordered on the north by the downtown area and hold eight city blocks and is considered as one of Nashville's fastest changing neighborhoods. You have a few restaurants and cafes to choose from such as Sobro Grill which is a family friendly restaurant with the highest price being just under $20, so it is not too extravagant. You also have The Palm which is a Steakhouse that has the motto ‘Treat guests like family, serve great food and always exceed expectations!

There aren’t that many retail stores in this neighborhood apart from the well-known Frugal McDougals Wine & Liquor, this is a liquor warehouse and is voted ‘Best Liquor Store in Nashville’ and rightly so. If you like your drink this will absolute heaven for you. It boasts over 300+ types of alcohol and also holds events in the area much like the upcoming beer festival which is happening on August 10th 2013. There is also disaster relief stores in the area which when products are bought all proceeds go to the charity the store supports!

Schools in SoBro Nashville

There are no local Universities in this area but there is The Tennessee Charter School Incubator in this area and it is the first statewide Charter School Incubator. For people who aren’t sure what this is, a charter school is an independent educational building that receives public money. It is practically the same as a public school only with a bit more flexibility. A Charter School Incubator teaches people to teach at and make their own Charter School anywhere in the United States.!

There is a small variety of parks in the immediate Sobro area, you have the medium sized park ‘Frist Green’ which is also a center for visual art exhibits. There is also ‘The Music City Walk of Fame Park’ which the name suggest its an awesome park to go to. You also have the Nashville Music Garden which many events are hosted most popularly music events. Its not all walking and watch the world go by on a bench. It also has a Skate Park for the youths of Sobro so whether you like skating or walking or both you get the best of both worlds.

Mapping SoBro in Downtown Nashville TN

Travelling from Sobro to the Downtown area is like traveling from your home to your neighbors, they are very close together so it’s better walking seeing what is on offer on your journey if health allows of course. Sobro is only roughly 10 miles away from the Airport which is about 15 minutes by car or taxi depending on traffic, but seeing as you are going through the Downtown area it is a 50/50 chance so make sure you plan ahead.
