The area has strengths in all facets of community life and well-being, including:

It's the people of Nashville that make this city great. You'll find plenty of saloons and country music in "Music City", but be prepared for a much larger depth of culture than that alone! Nashville is consistently ranked as one of the friendliest and most fun cities in the US, while also being a center for economic growth. Nashville is a cosmopolitan center with a diverse population that's always growing. In 2006 alone, approximately 25,794 people from all over the world chose to call Nashville home, and this trend shows no sign of slowing down.

Though the population has topped over one million people, Nashville remains a safe and peaceful community that has a low crime rate. And despite being a huge regional economic center, Nashville's unique neighborhoos have grown up such that each offers a unique feel-- from the urban-style living offered by downtown areas, to the small, close-knit, greenspace-oriented communities nearby like Hillsboro Village and East Nashville. Nashville is home to an incredibly high percentage of per-capita greenspace, and almost every neighborhood boasts expansive parks with play areas for children, as well as running trails and dog parks. And within short (15 to 30 minute) drive of the city center are many larger natural areas, state and national parks with longer hiking trails, waterfalls, and scenic vistas!

Nashville Weather

Nashville is a great place to visit any time of year. The climate is mild, offering beautiful colors in spring and fall, a warm summer, and cool winter. Summer temperatures can breach 90F, while winters rarely drop much lower than freezing. Over winters, one can expect 2 to 4 brief, shallow snowfalls and perhaps a few hard freezes, though the city is placed optimally to have particularly long spring and fall seasons. Summer heat is generally exacerbated by high humidity, but windy days easily alleviate this.

Nashville Economy

Nashville's strong economy and low unemployment rate is legendary in the South. The city is a great "neighborhood" of private and public business and industry, where people are as likely to go to work each morning in banks, hospitals, or government offices as to drive trucks, punch cash registers, or work on assembly lines. The area has benefited from low unemployment, consistent job growth, heavy outside investment and expansion, and a broadening of the labor force. Although the city's economy is not reliant on any one area of production, Nashville is a leader in finance and insurance, health care, music and entertainment, publishing, transportation technology, higher education, biotechnology, plastics, and tourism and conventions.
